Kids Volley

Also known as Circulation Mini Volleyball

A short introduction to what it is and the philosopphy behind it.

Circulation Mini Volleyball tournament in Sint Anthonis (The Netherlands)

We use the Dutch Circulation Mini Volleyball (CMV) system, but we call it Kids Volley.

It was developed by Adrie Noij, the most successful youth coach in the Netherlands and winner of many national youth championships.

This means that we emphasize ball contact, movement, and, above all, fun and challenging exercises.

At DAT Volei, a positive and enjoyable learning experience is the foundation for a long-lasting sporting commitment. It’s not for nothing that Adrie Noij has asked DAT to take ownership of his vision and working methods and continue to propagate the philosophy.

What can you expect?

1) Professional guidance from an experienced trainer(s).

2) Fun and dynamic training sessions.

3) Basic skills learning with an emphasis on individual growth.

4) A stimulating environment that favours intrinsic motivation.

An example is how kids can train the upper head technique.

Kids Volley (CMV) is a modified version of regular volleyball, specially designed for children aged 6 to about 12.

The aim of Kids Volley is to introduce young players to volleyball in an age- and skill-oriented way, with an emphasis on fun, development, and understanding of the game.

The main features of Kids Volley are:

  • Adapted pitch size: The pitch is smaller than a standard volleyball court, making the game more accessible to young players. Depending on the level, it is played on a 4.5m x 6m or 6m x 6m pitch.
  • It also has a lowered net (starting at 2 meters in height).
  • Adapted ball: The ball used in CMV is often lighter and softer, making it easier for young players to handle and play. Of course, this depends on the availability of these balls and whether the National Volleyball Federation accepts them.
  • Team size: Instead of the traditional teams of six players in a court and substitutes next to the court, KIDS Volley teams consist of a maximum of four players in the court. A KIDS Volley team should not consist of more than six children. This promotes more significant involvement of all players on the field.
  • Multiple levels: KIDS Volley is divided into levels (Level 1 to 6), adapted to the players’ age and skills. Each level introduces new elements and challenges to promote progress and development.
  • Emphasis on basic skills: There is a strong emphasis on teaching fundamental volleyball skills such as passing, serving, attacking and blocking.

This is offered in an environment designed for a positive and supportive learning experience.
Kids Volley aims to give young players a positive introduction to volleyball, help them develop their motor skills and inspire them to continue the sport as they grow up.

Kids Volley is a popular and effective programme that gets young people involved in volleyball in a way that suits their age and level.

Whereas many national leagues only start at 9 or 10 years old, Kids Volley begins at 6 years old.
